In Make Me Up, multimedia artist Rachel Maclean has created a world that is both seductive and dangerous; a place where surveillance, violence and submission are a normalised part of daily life. She tackles these contradictions head-on and never balks at pushing boundaries. This darkly-comic film takes a satirical look at the contradictory pressures faced by women today. It exa...

。。但这片子里的妆化真的好看 啊 我惭愧 我肤浅..... world premiere 用Q&A里面女性观众的评价说 thank you, this film is insane 哈哈哈哈哈
Erica!!! She was amazing!!! I think she’s played by Alice Zhang
Overall a fun ride, particularly if treated as a suspenseful, "escape under siege" revenge story with feminist commentaries. The entire borrowed dialogue from Kenneth Clark does feel odd and forced at times --- the idea of leveraging this "western civilization" narrative and its toxic patriarchal connotation brewed within right wing circle over recent years, is reasonable yeah yeah I know but still, Kenneth Clark isn't Jordan Peterson and Rachel Maclean isn't as direct as Hannah Gadsby either (particularly in terms of critiquing art history canon directly) so that doesn't help. This aspect of borrowed dialogue indeed makes it more aptly a child of museum artwork influence.
